Consider affirmations in a different light that incorporates science and the bible to help you embrace your unique God-given identity.

af·firm·a·tion
noun noun: affirmation; plural noun: affirmations
1. the action or process of affirming something or being affirmed. 2. emotional support or encouragement. A statement of the existence or truth of something. Emotional support or encouragement.
Definitions from Oxford Languages
I love these definitions of affirmation as it is a statement of truth meant to encourage our emotions. Said another way, affirmations bring security in knowing the truth of something important.
Trendy- I AM
When I think of I Am, my mind goes to Moses and the burning bush; I Am that I Am. If you look at the trends of affirmations, they start with I Am. Does it make you feel like you are putting yourself in His place? I don't want to level up with God; I want to partner with Him and know His desires for my life. Let's now look at how we can incorporate biblical practices with affirmations to affirm our identity in the truths of God's Word; then, we can embrace our purpose from the inside out.
Jesus Taught
In Matthew 13:1, we need to see with our eyes and hear with our ears to have a heart that understands. In this same verse, Jesus promises that an understanding heart will turn us to Him, and He will heal us. We can take this principle and apply it to our affirmations. First, we can read the affirmation (see), then we can speak the affirmation (hear). When we do this, our hearts can understand the truth of the affirmations.
"the unexamined life is not worth living." -Socrates
Science
If you have never heard of Illeism, the term means talking about yourself in the second (you, your, yourself) or third person (proper name). There is some agreement among studies at the University of Michigan and the University of Waterloo in Canada that speaking (hearing) in this way will boost your self-confidence and improve your wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge in action.
Another cool thing is that when you speak this way, the brain can't discern whether you are speaking or someone else is speaking. None of us are immune from doubts about our interpretation of reality, so we rely on others to confirm what we hope is true. Because of this, the Illesim method is an ideal way to be that encourager to yourself as if someone else were speaking it to you.
Oh, the possibilities!
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Understanding comes from our God-consciousness in our spirit. Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God: There it is! We can pour into our spirit all of God's Word by speaking out loud to ourselves, and the Holy Spirit will bear witness to it.
Putting your Affirmations into action
Your name goes here, you are my child, and I will never tire of speaking your name.
-God.
Now that you have read it next speak it out loud. Simple.
Affirming God's Truths over your life
You are unique and treasured in God's eyes. Knowing our purpose and identity causes us to live for God, not ourselves. Incorporating a daily affirmation can be an excellent way to reinforce God's truths in your spirit. To be notified by email of new posts, click the button to subscribe.
